The United Nation Development Program (UNDP) has organized a meeting called ‘Candidate Information Session’ at Carson Hall in Hakha, to access information between public and election candidates for Chin state yesterday. At the meeting, candidates from Hakha, Tidim, Matupi, Kanpalet and Mindat constituencies were presented and 15 of their personal secretaries also attended.

From the political party side, the representatives of National League of Democracy (NLD), Chin National Democratic Party (CNDP), Chin League of Democracy (CLD) and Ethnic National Development Party (ENDP) were attended.

“Because of transportation problem the session attendances were less than we had expected before. And most of candidates are rampaging in remote areas,” said Daw Sui Sung, CLD candidate for Hakha township no. 1 constituency.

At the one day session meeting, they had discussed about election calendar, Union Election Commission and its arrangement, duty of candidates, voting and voters’ education, pre-voting, vote counting and result; and other questionnaires were answered by the officials of election commission group.

There are 273673 voters in 39 voting constituencies and 202 candidates for three houses, and there are 8 independent candidates in Chin state.
