Pu Lian Luai, Chief Minister of Chin state, say that Chikha-Paletwa highway, which is connecting northern Chin state to southern, will be first priority to construct under the new ministry of Chin state government.
“There is no highway in Chin state currently, so that our ministry will construct the first highway in the townships between Chikha and Paletwa. After that we’ll make some link roads for villages from the highway,” he said.
From the highway, some link roads will be connected to India and Bangladesh directly.
The distance between Chikha sub-township in northern Chin state and Paletwa in southern Chin state is about 400 miles.
“It is estimated that we had finished the new construction and widening roads with the length of more than 1000 miles till date in Chin state. For example, there was no motor road in Kanpalet before, but now the new road is reaching to 200 miles,” said Pu Ram Mang, Minister of Project and Finance in Chin state.
The previous government had planned the budget amount 37 million dollars for road construction in Chin state for 2016-2021.
When Pu Lal Thanhawla, CM of Mizoram visited in Kalamyo on 6-8 in this month, he said that Indian government will support about Rupees 20 billion to Myanmar government for constructing of road in Chin state.
In related with the construction of Chikha-Paletwa highway, Chin state government officials and the representatives of England had met in Hakha recently.
