The regime seized the vacant home of Salai Myo Hteik, a MP for the National League for Democracy (NLD), in Paletwa Township.
“No one has been living in the house for a long time,” said a local who asked that his name not be mentioned. On Sunday, soldiers and police put a padlock on the front door of the property in southern Chin State and tied the fence door with a rope. Armed forces also locked up the Missionary Baptist Church, which was built on the grounds of the MP’s garden.
Salai Myo Hteik is a member of the NLD Central Committee and secretary of the party in Chin State, who won in the 2020 national election for Paletwa Township.
Since taking power in a coup on 1 February, the junta has raided many NLD offices and party members’ homes across Burma.
The homes of other leaders have also been also targeted.
On 30 October, the junta confiscated the home of Dr Lian H. Sakhaung, vice-chair of the Chin National Front and minister for Federal Union Affairs in the National Unity Government, in Hakha. On the same day, the armed forces seized the house of Pastor Van Cam in Kyawbok ward in the Chin State capital.
