At the entrance to Tamu on the Indian border in the Sagaing Region, a skirmish broke out between the People’s Defence Forces (PDF) and the Burma Army (BA), during which the junta troops destroyed several people’s private properties.
At around 8am on Wednesday, BA soldiers burnt down Thang Bwi’s house and a woman’s house during the 20-minute clash, a local familiar with the attack told Khonumthung News.
According to the PDF, the regime deployed its troops between Myin Han Bridge and the three-mile checkpoint in Tamu.
It warned civilians not to travel between the town and Kalay because BA soldiers could abduct them and use them as human shields, as they’ve done many times before.
The resistance group reported that they twice attacked a junta column travelling from Aung Zeya village to Tamu six days ago, claiming to have killed at least 30 soldiers and wounded others. However, it is impossible for Khonumthung News to independently confirm these casualties.
On 19 September, the regime torched 4 homes in Yan Lin Fai, 3 in Nan Moon Tar and 2 in Kwam Moon Num.
In Kalay, the capital of Sagaing Region, the PDF chapter there laid a landmine ambush on the circular road in Myo Hla Ward, in the western part of the town, five days ago.
A firefight ensued between the PDF and BA, after one of their military vehicles from a convoy of five trucks coming from the eastern part of Kalay detonated one of the hidden explosive devices at around 4:30pm.
It’s unclear whether the BA suffered any casualties, as the PDF withdrew after a few minutes with no casualties.
