The regime launched four airstrikes with fighter jets on Chin resistance forces after they pinned down a Burma Army (BA) column between Hakha and Thangtlang townships.
According to the Chinland Post, no fighters from the Chinland Defence Force (CDF) and the Chin National Army (armed wing of the Chin National Front) were injured in the airstrikes in northern Chin State on 17 October.
The armed groups had surrounded the BA column for several days during clashes before the junta sent in the fighter jets to free their trapped soldiers.
In southern Chin State, the Kanpetlet CDF tried to shoot down two BA helicopters transporting troops to Kanpetlet town on 16 October.
The group said they hit the main rotor of one of the aircraft and a fuel tank with bullets.
According to a CDF officer, they’d received intelligence the helicopters were flying by and that their soldiers were waiting to attack them. At press time, it wasn’t yet known if any soldiers were wounded or killed in the attack.
The resistance group reports that BA flew over 30 soldiers into the town on 15 October, expecting clashes to occur any day.
