On 2 April, a combined force of local armed resistance groups clashed with the Burma army near Tuingo village in Kalay Township of Sagaing Region.

The clashes broke out around 8 a.m. when a junta military column was on patrol in the area between Tuingo and Min HLa villages. The military column was traveling from east to west through Nan Tagar creek.

During the clash, the armed resistance groups were also attacked by the junta’s artillery battalion based in Kalay town.

A resistance group soldier reported that on 31 March they had an intense clash with junta forces near Tuingo village.

During this previous clash the Burma army suffered some causalities, and they responded by launching airstrikes and artillery attacks on the resistance groups.

The Assemblies of God church building and an unknown number of civilian houses in Tuingo village were damaged by the junta’s airstrikes.

The Chin National Organization – Upper Chindwin Region (CNO-UCR) released a statement on 31 March saying that they had attacked the Burma army’s column with landmines.

The CNO-UCR statement claimed that their landmine attack killed at least 10 junta soldiers and wounded seven others.

Resistance groups discovered two injured Burma army soldiers left behind at the attack location.

Medics from the resistance groups provided medical treatment but the two injured junta soldiers died from blood loss.

Local people from Tuingo, Let Pan Chaung, Min Hla, Awng Ywar, Myauk Chaw, Chin Su, and Chan Tha Gyi villages fled the clashes and have taken shelter at safe locations elsewhere in Kalay Township.
