On 3 April, Burma army soldiers set fire to six civilian houses in Tlangzar village, which is located in Falam Township on the Falam – Hakha vehicle road.
Tlangzar village has approximately 40 houses and is located nearly 17 miles from Falam town.
The morning of 3 April, clashes broke near Tlangzar village out between Chin resistance groups and a Burma army military column which was traveling from Falam town to Hakha town.
The fighting lasted for approximately one hour. After the clash ended the Burma army set fire to some houses in Tlangzar village, according to a Chin resistance group soldier.
“We have continued to clash with junta forces for several days. The junta soldiers based in Falam town attacked us with artillery. We saw smoke rising from Tlangzar village. I think they already burned six houses in the village. We do not know the exact number of damaged houses in the village because we are unable to approach the village,” a Chin resistance group soldier told Khonumthung news.
On 1 April, nearly 20 houses in Tlangrawn village, located nearly 10 miles from Falam town, were damaged by the Burma army’s shelling, according to local people.
“The military convoy has travelled in Chin state for three weeks. Chin resistance groups are present along the vehicle road. I think they are fearful of us. The Burma army attacked us with 122 mm multiple rocket launcher from Falam town around 4 a.m. this morning,” a Chin resistance soldier told Khonumthung news.
Starting 9 March, a Burma army military convoy have been traveling from Kalay town in Sagaing region towards Hakha town in Chin state.
As of 6 April, the convoy has progressed to the area between Ramthlo and Tlangzar villages in Falam Township.
Clashes continue between Chin resistance groups and Burma army in the area. Chin resistance groups have warned that local people should not travel on the road in the area due to the presence of the Burma army’s military column.
