Seven people were killed in a village in Paletwa Township from regime airstrikes, where both Arakan Army (AA) and Chin fighters have taken control of the town sharing the same name and numerous junta bases in southern Chin State.
On Monday, the State Administration Council (SAC) conducted three airstrikes on Hum, according to a member of the Daai Chinland Defense Force (CDF), formed after the coup to resist the military regime. He expressed surprise that the SAC ordered attacks within their territory rather than where the junta is engaged in conflict with AA soldiers in the township.
“In the past, the Arakan Army used this area as a transport route, and probably, they want to block it. Another possibility is that they have intentionally targeted civilians.”
During the afternoon bombings, numerous houses were destroyed in the village situated on the border with Mindat and Matupi townships
There are rumours that the seven victims were truck drivers transporting petroleum in the area, but Khonumthung News couldn’t confirm this information.
Last December, another SAC aircraft targeted the village after Chin resistance groups attacked its Htel Bwe camp in the township.
Soldiers from the CDF are still gathering information about the fatalities, injuries, and property damage caused by the airstrike.
