The Chin Brotherhoods Alliance is attacking the regime’s forces in Tedim during a joint operation. An information officer from the People’s Defense Force – Zoland said they have already captured a junta camp and taken nine soldiers prisoner a few days ago, which gave them control of a strategic road and allowed civilians to flee the town in Chin State.
“As our troops attacked their military camp, they launched airstrikes and these airstrikes and artillery strikes have continued.”
Since May 16, the Military Council flew 20 airstrikes against them in Tedim Township.
In the town, they captured weapons, ammo and other military equipment from the camp, which is called the ‘Microwave camp’ because its located next to telecommunications tower.
The officer explained they killed four soldiers under the Burma army and some escaped on May 27.
This is the alliance’s second operation. During its first, they captured the town of Kyatwee in Kanpetlet Township.
Although the second operation is going well, the officer remarked on the ongoing efforts of the resistance forces to secure key targets. For example, he said they still need to topple the Military Council’s Infantry Battalion 269 headquarters and take the police station, which is close to where the other camp the have captured is located.
A Tedim civilian said that airstrikes killed a woman and destroyed 30 homes of the town’s 2,200 dwellings. Half the town’s population of over 13,000 have already fled. Resistance forces have advised the remaining population to seek shelter in bunkers in Tedim.
Tedim Township borders with Kalay and Tamu townships in Sagaing region, Falam and Tonzang townships in Chin State, and India’s Mizoram Township.
