The Matupi Chiland Defense Force (CDF) has taken the Matupi District office from the military regime.
The Vakok battalion under its Brigade 2 captured the office in southern Chin State, forcing the Burma army soldiers to retreat to the village of Phaneng (also spelled Phanaing) at about 10 am on May 30.
“We have a plan to attack all of the Burma army camps in our territory and we have already begun,” the Vakok Battalion spokesperson said while asking for the people’s support. The group is attacking the retreating soldiers in Phaneng at the time of this report.
When the battalion attacked the office located on the Matupi – Hakha road, the enemy soldiers pulled back to nearby government housing before retreating to the village.
It’s unclear what casualties the Burma army suffered during the attack. One soldier from the Vakok Battalion was injured after stepping on a hidden landmine during the battle.
