Chin Brotherhood captures junta’s last remaining Battalion-268 in Falam

The Chin Brotherhood (CB) and allied forces have seized complete control of the last remaining Infantry Battalion-268 of the military junta in the strategically important northern Chin State’s town of Falam on 7 April, according to sources.

Since capturing the IB-268 on 7 April, the joint Chin resistance forces have been conducting clearance operations in the area, as confirmed by sources from the Chin National Defense Force (CNDF) and the frontline battlefield.

“We’ve taken control of the IB-268 base. Some junta soldiers fled, and we’re still clearing the area,” the source said.

Since 9 November 2024, the Chin Brotherhood and allied forces have been launching their offensive on Falam town. Having already captured all junta positions within the town, they surrounded, blockaded, and cut off the last remaining IB-268. After approximately five months of sustained offensives, they were able to take complete control of the battalion.

Capturing Falam town is a pivotal move for Chin resistance groups in northern Chin State, particularly for their efforts in battles to take Haka, Thantlang, and Tedim. For the junta, Falam remains critical to maintaining control over northern Chin State, according to Chin forces.

Since 11 March, the junta has been fiercely attempting to retain Falam, deploying daily airstrikes with jet fighters, Y8 and Y12 aircraft, and Mi-35 helicopters, dropping 500-pound bombs among others. They have also been reinforcing the area with hundreds of troops. As a result, the battle to capture the town has been prolonged and fraught with numerous challenges and difficulties.

As of now, the Chin Brotherhood has not made any official statement regarding the capture of Falam town.
