A liaison of the Chin National Front (CNF) was opened in Matupi, the second capital of Chin state, Burma on 23 June 2012. This follows an agreement between the government of Burma and a CNF delegation.

Pu Paulsitha, Secretary General-I of CNF told Khonumthung that the liaison office was housed in a rented place in Lawngvan block of Matupi. The office was opened by Colonel Zaw Min Oo, Minister of Border and Security of Chin state.

Around 200 local people attended the inaugural ceremony of the office. It will be managed by Pu Thang Yen, a member of the supreme council of CNF with six office staff members.

CNF will have three offices in Teddim, Than Tlang and Matupi as per the agreement.

Similarly, a liaison office of the CNF also will be opened in Than Tlang Town on 29 June 2012.

The CNF was formed in May 1988 to fight for self-determination rights of ethnic people and it went on to form the Chin National Army (CNA). It is based on the Indo-Burma border. At least 70 CNF soldiers died in action in fighting between 1988 and 2012.
