Two persons were killed on the spot and 10 other passengers, including the driver were injured in a tragic jeep accident in Hakha, the capital of Chin state. The jeep was travelling to the capital from Rizua Sub-township of Matupi Township on September 3 at around 6:45 p.m. local standard time.
The dead were identified as Pu Pha Tu (68) and Pi Ruanu W/o Pha Tu from Rizua sub-township. The accident occurred near the Gospel Baptist Church of Phidawta block in Hakha.
Daw Chotuma (30) Daughter of U Aung Min from Pinmana Town, Thwe Thiri Myo Khaing (9) D/o Chotuma, Daw Khin Win Kyi (50) mother of Chotuma and D/o of U Khaing Yee, Daw Myint (25) D/o U Win Myint of Nayphidaw, the capital of Burma, Ms. Win Kyi (23) D/o Pu Phatu, Pu Tei Khi (68) and Pa Bawi (30) S/o Pu Khu Hmung, Pin Tia village of Matupi, Mr. Pum Khai (29) S/o Pu Cin Thang and his younger brother from Kalemyo, Sagaing division, Mr. Pum Suan Cin (21) and Daw Ma Nwe (42) D/o Pu Kalu from Rizua were injured.
The driver of the jeep lost control near Shwe Myoh Daw restaurant, Phidawta block on the road in front of the Church and rolled down 10 feet. The owner of the jeep was identified as Pu Maung Po from Kalemyo.
Pu Pha Tu and his wife were rescued immediately by local people and sent to the civil hospital. The couple died around 9 p.m. having sustained serious injuries. The local authorities found 10,000 Kyat in Pu Pha Tu’s pocket.
It is learnt that Pu Pha Tu and his wife planned to be treated for ailments in Mandalay, second capital of Burma, said a local.
Pu Ram Mang, Pu Van Thawng and Pu Ngun San Aung, ministers of Chin state government have promised assistance for Pu Pha Tu and his wife’s funeral service, said a local.
However, local people are worried about the injured passengers because of lack of medical instruments and medicine in the Hakha civil hospital.
Similarly, three persons died and 37 passengers were injured in a mini bus accident between Than Tlang and Hakha road on 27 February 2012. Khonumthung news
