    At least 18 Burma army soldiers killed during recent clashes in Mindat

    At least 18 Burma army soldiers were killed during armed clashes that occurred in Mindat Township on 7 April and 10 April, according to the Chinland Defense Force – Mindat (CDF – Mindat).

    On 7 April, an all-day battle happened in the Village-tract No-1 area of Mindat Township between the CDF – Mindat and the Burma army. The fighting started around 7:30 a.m. and ended around 6 p.m.

    At least 15 BA soldiers were killed and a CDF – Mindat member was wounded during the fighting. After suffering many causalities, regime fighter jets bombarded the Chin resistance group positions eight times.

    On 10 April, the CDF – Mindat had another clash with Burma army troops near the 9-mile area, not far from Mindat town. The clash took place around 6 p.m. Three Burma army soldiers were killed during fighting, according to the CDF – Mindat.

    On the evening of 11 April, Village-tract no-1 and surrounding areas were attacked four times by two Burma army fighter jets. The airstrikes damaged a Buddhist monastery and a civilian house.

    The CDF – Mindat reported that there were no civilian casualties during the airstrikes.

    Khonumthung News was not able to independently verify the number of causalities suffered by the Burma army and CDF – Mindat during these clashes.
