About 300 houses had destroyed and more than 2000 had evacuated their houses, because of heavy rains and landslides in Hakha, Chin state western Myanmar. U Shwethiau, a resident of Hakha said that 196 houses at old capital block, 69 houses at Kei Thei Bo block, and 16 houses at New Market block in Hakha had destroyed by landslide recently, and more than 2600 were displaced to safety area.
A report said that there are about 8000 people affected by the flood in Kalaymyo, Sagaing region, Myanmar because of heavy rain from last month. As per the record of Kalaymyo Relief group, the most affected areas are Nyainepinta, Aungmingala, Mingalayin, Aungmiman and Aungthisa villages, and 7708 people in other 30 villages were also displaced to safety area.
The Zomi Democracy Party (ZCD) selected its candidates for the ensuing 2015 general election in Myanmar on November 8. The selection was made in the third week of July at Tidim town, Chin state. “It is the final selection to nominate candidates as Member of Parliament. Chin political parties have chalked out a plan to work together for the 2015 election, which will be held on 8 November 2015. The working plan of the political parties’ was drafted by Salai Isaac Khin, director of Gender and Development Initiative – Myanmar and secretaries from each Chin political parties. R.Thangmawia, head of the Zo Reunification Organisation (ZORO) which led a popular movement for political unity among the ethnically Chin-Lushai-Kuki of Indian, Bangladesh and Myanmar in the late 80s and early 90s, was found dead in a Geneva hotel on July 20, according to the organization he headed for almost three decades.
In the 2014-2015 academic year the class X results announced on 6 June in states and regions in Myanmar and Chin state, the pass percentage was 17.84. The result shows that the pass percentage had doubled compared to last year. The pass percentage last year was 8.07 only. An angry mob lynched a Burmese citizen who had slashed a 12-year old girl’s neck with a knife on 8 June at Zawngin village, Mizoram state. The man, Liankhansang, was a native of Tahan block in Kalaymyo, Myanmar and he arrived in Zawngin, Mizoram state for four weeks in order to work as a wood cutter.
