Chin political parties have chalked out a plan to work together for the 2015 election, which will be held on 8 November 2015. The working plan of the political parties’ was drafted by Salai Isaac Khin, director of Gender and Development Initiative – Myanmar and secretaries from each Chin political parties. In the 2014-2015 academic year the class X results announced on 6 June in states and regions in Myanmar and Chin state, the pass percentage  was 17.84. The result shows that the pass percentage had doubled compared to last year. The pass percentage last year was 8.07 only. This year, there were 9,639 students in class X, of these 1,720 successfully passed the examination. An angry mob lynched a Burmese citizen who had slashed a 12-year old girl’s neck with a knife on 8 June at Zawngin village, Mizoram state. The man, Liankhansang, was a native of Tahan block in Kalaymyo, Myanmar and he arrived in Zawngin, Mizoram state for four weeks in order to work as a wood cutter.

The Mahemiah Co-operation Company (MCC) is planning to construct a tourist hotel in Hakha, capital of Chin state, western Myanmar if the state authorities permit, said Pu Thawng Za lian, a company official. MCC will open its office in Hakha next month and at the opening ceremony, the Chief Minister of Chin state, other ministers, local elders and religious leaders will be invited, he added.

In Chin state, the poorest state in Myanmar, only 6 per cent of children receive health care, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has said.  The UNICEF said on 5 May that children in Chin state are not developed to their age level compared to children in other states and they are thin and frail. Many Chin people have moved to Kaladan River bank in order to escape gun fights between Arakan Army (AA) and the Myanmar Army in Paletwa township.  Khumi media reported that Pinso villagers in Paletwa township moved to the Indo-Myanmar border and Kaladan River bank because of gun fights in the last week of March and the first week of April in Paletwa. Local people in Mindat town have opposed the construction of a new Township Hall in the town by the Chin state government. The existing Kumti Hall will be demolished.
