Mizoram, a northeast state of India, will buy rice from Myanmar during the extension of the railway between Lumding and Badalpur. The Chin state government has sanctioned Kyat 5,200 lakhs from the 2014-2015 budget to remote villages under the rural development scheme in Chin state. The state among the poorest has 73 per cent people under the poverty line. The Hakha Post said that state government has funded Ks. 5,200 lakhs for 54 villages in Thantlang township under the rural development project, which is being initiated by the project leader U Khin Myint, township administrator.
A report said that USDP is not willing to accept donation of rice for distribution to villagers of Tonzang Township, northern Chin state through the Chin National Front by Nippon Foundation (Japan) from next month. “Some leaders of the USDP in Tonzang Township had reported they cannot accept the rice donation of Nippon Foundation to Chin state government last month, so the state government has cancelled the permission of rice distribution by Nippon Foundation,” said a local to Khonumthung.
