Two chin students have played for the champion’s team of Sagaing division in the high school football sports for the academic year 2012-2013 in Burma. The football championship was organised by the Education Ministry in Naypitaw. 14 teams participated from all states and division. The Chin National Front (CNF) named its new Headquarter “Camp Victoria” in Than Tlang Township, Chin state, Burma following an agreement with the Centre to set up CNF camps in the state. The name of the Headquarter was decided in a central committee meeting of CNF on 4 January. “We decided on the name through majority votes at the meeting among nine names proposed,” said an officer of the Chin National Army. Around 20,000 viss of orchids were imported to Mandalay, second capital of Burma from Kanpetlet Township of Chin state and several viss was flown to Mandalay to be sold in the black market in Mindat Township. The number of Burmese weavers working in Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram state, northeast India has decreased appreciably from the end of 2012. The decrease is due to decline in the money exchange rate between Indian currency and the Burmese. The Burmese government offensive against the Kachin Independent Army (KIA) was criticized by the Chin National Front (CNF). CNF says in its statement on 5 January that peace and re-conciliation process of the Union of Burma will be affected if the offensive on KIA which is on since 9 June 2011 by the government does not stop. An internet cafe and a public call office (PCO) were burnt down in Paletwa Town of southern Chin state, Burma on 2 January. The local authorities cannot figure out how the fire started, but the local people suspect the hands of miscreants. “The internet cafe did not have any security personnel, while electricity is not regular in the town, so some unscrupulousness person started the fire,” said a local.
