Fighting has flared up again between the Chin resistance and the Burma Army in Kalay Township, Sagaing Region. According to resistance fighters, they killed about 50 BA soldiers, who were part of a convoy of 200 soldiers travelling from Kalay to Falam, in clashes between 11 and 13 July. Chin resistance groups have slain 63 junta soldiers in attacks on a Burma Army convoy (BA) on its way from Falam to Hakha in northern Chin State. The regime has charged a member of a youth group in Tedim after he used a megaphone in June to announce a warning previously issued by the Zoland People’s Defence Force (PDF). Inkhat Moon of the Shalom Youth Committee was charged with Article 505 (b). The young man appeared in court on 12 July. Paletwa residents have been without electricity for over a week after the Burma Army has prevented fuel and other things from being sent to the town located in southern Chin State. According to a local man, staff from the electricity distribution department for Paletwa Township said they couldn’t bring fuel from Kyauktaw in northern Rakhine State since 27 June. Paletwa town is off the grid with all of the power provided by diesel generators. At 10am on Wednesday, June 29, Infantry Battalion (IB) 274 shelled Madap, where the boy lived, and Kyar Ein Nue.
