The Network for Chin Community Development (NCCD) adopted a draft Chin land policy during a major conference attended by 26 Chin civil society organisations campaigning against the loss of land by the Burma Army. The regime’s armed forces have burned people’s homes in northern Chin State, while travelling from Hakha to Falam, Khonumthung News has learned. On Wednesday, soldiers with a Burma Army (BA) convoy burned seven houses in Ramthlo, which is just off the highway. Armed forces shot dead a youth and wounded three others during a patrol in Tedim town in northern Chin State on Friday night, 29 April. “The police and soldiers mistook them for the PDF (People’s Defence Forces) and shot at them,” a man told Khonumthung News on condition of anonymity. Resistance forces have pinned down the Burma Army (BA) after relentless ambushes on its soldiers travelling south from Kalay town in Sagaing Region. The Matupi Chinland Defence Force (CDF) reported that at least eight Burma Army (BA) soldiers were killed, including a captain, and five were wounded in an unexpected skirmish at a junction on the Mindat-Matupi road.
