A regime military convoy travelling through southern Chin State sustained heavy losses after a series of ambushes by civilian resistance fighters. The regime’s armed forces have tightened security at all checkpoints in Chin State’s capital, Hakha, to crack down on anyone using a virtual private network (VPN) to access the internet, which is banned. Fighting between junta troops and civilian resistance groups trying to overthrow Burma’s military dictatorship has prevented supplies of fuel, rice and other vital foodstuffs not grown by farmers in the remote town in southern Chin State from reaching Matupi for several months, causing the price of remaining supplies to rise exponentially or become unavailable altogether.
