The army ordered health staff who joined the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), to get out of the staff quarters in Teedim Township Public Hospital in Chin State on March 12. Local youth helped health staff relocate to other places as the army told the medical superintendent to relocate CDM staff by 3 pm on March 12nd, a local from Teedim Township. The army also forced the CDM staff from Hakha People’s Hospital to get out of the hospital compound by 3 pm on March 12th. The army said it would manage hospital work.

While one Chin youth was released from a military detention camp in Thantlang Township last week, at least nine others are believed to still be in custody in Matupi, Falam, and Hakha townships in Chin State. Soldiers arrested Salai Cung Bwi Lian in Thantlang at night on March 10. The Burma Army requested Chin National Front (CNF) to return police officers suspected of seeking refuge in its area in northern Chin State after joining the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM). However, the CNF said the police fled to India.  CNF met the commander of Burma Army Northwest Command in Hakha this week to discuss the matter. Soldiers assaulted and arrested a Christian pastor and three others this week in Matupi town, located in southern Chin State. A youth told Khonumthung News they were arrested on March 10 at a roadblock soldier set up in the evening. Sai Naw Ler, Sayar Byik Thang, Ah Ngun and San David are being held at a detention center in an army camp. A General Administration Department (GAD) officer in Chin State’s Falam Township has requested that the Mizoram state government in India return eight policemen to Myanmar after they sought refuge across the border following the February 1 military coup. A cremation service for an eighteen-year-old protester shot by security forces was held at 3 pm today in Kalay, Sagaing Region. Maung Zin Myo Maung was shot in the chest after live rounds and teargas were fired at a demonstration where four people were shot this Tuesday. The junta released five lawmakers in Chin State from a military detention facility, who were arrested after staging a coup a month ago, but kept the chief minister and others.
