Fighting broke out between two anti-junta Chin resistance forces, the Chin National Defence Force (CNDF) and Hualngoram Chinland Defence Force (CDF) in the Hualngoram region of Chin State’s Falam Township, on 2 July 2025. The Lawktu People’s Administration Team announced on 16 June that it has prohibited freedom of expression, as well as the use of communication devices and internet installations for local residents in the Lawktu area of Chin State. Over the past five months in 2025, the military junta conducted 18 airstrikes in Mindat Township, Chin State, resulting in 10 deaths and 20 injuries among local residents, according to a statement from the interim Mindat Township People’s Administration Team. Refugees from Paletwa Township in Chin State who faced floods where they were sheltering, in Lawngtlai District in India’s Mizoram State, have begun receiving aid. 2,283 Myanmar refugees from 472 households were sheltering in refugee camps in the three Lawngtlai District villages of Khaikhy, Twidin, and Longmasu. Heavy rain on 31 May and 1 June 2025 caused a river to break its banks and flood the three camps. Residents of Hakha City, the Chin State capital, have had no electricity for three months and are now having to pay owners of electricity generators to charge their phones and power banks.
