Burmese President U Thein Sein and his top government officials arrived in Hakha, the capital of Chin state, Burma on 3 pm local standard time on Saturday.
The former military leader of Burma U Thein Sein arrived with Lieutenant Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Tatmadaw Commander in Chief, Minister of Health, Education Minister, Immigration Minister, Minister of Forestry, Minister of Science and Technology, Pu No Than Kap, Minister of Kalemyo’s Chin affairs and two ministers of Ethnic Nationalities.
The President and its team left for Teddim Town in northern Chin state from Kalemyo by three helicopters and arrived at 9:30 am in Teddim. A meeting was held with local departmental officials. The President left for Hakha at around 3 pm.
The President’s team was warmly welcomed by thousands of Hakha people in national dresses along the high way to the capital, said a youth from Hakha.
“We welcomed the President and ministers from the golf field of Hakha to the Town hall in our national dresses. The crowd shouted slogan like ‘Long Live the President’ holding the Union flag” said a local.
Representatives of Chin state, Departmental officials and local elder groups met the President and team leaders on Sunday in Hakha.
Regular electricity in the state, clean and pure water supply and a request for a university in the capital were made by the local people during the President’s trip to the state.
Arrangements for raising domesticated wild oxen (Mithun), planning tea plantations was observed by the President during his trip to Chin state. The President left for Mindat Town of southern Chin state on Sunday.
The former military leader Thein Sein made his first trip to Chin state during the military government’s tenure in Burma. This is the second time he has visited Chin state as head of the new government of Burma.
