The Mara Chinland Defence Force (CDF) killed at least four Burma army soldiers and wounded five in Lailenpi, also known as Lailengpi and Lai Lin Pi, in Matupi Township in southern Chin State on 8 July, according to the resistance group.

Battalion 3 of the CDF attacked a regime camp in the town after reports that enemy soldiers were threatening and shooting at residents.

The afternoon attack lasted only 30 minutes, then the CDF retreated and the junta fired five shells, killing a 17-year-old girl named Ma Les Myat Tan Dar in Aphawaw Ward.

“The junta soldiers burnt people’s motorbikes and abducted three civilians. All the residents of Aphawaw fled to a safer area because the ward is very close to the Burma army’s camp in Lailenpi,” he said.

Among those abducted are Maiki, the pastor of Mara Evangelical Church, and elder U Htauk Choe.
