A coalition of resistance groups ambushed a column after the regime soldiers razed some houses in a village in Sagaing Region.

At least 10 houses in Tha Si were set on fire by regime soldiers on the morning of 25 June before they came under fire by Kalay, Kabaw, Gangaw Chin Defence Force (CDF), Vakok Chin National Defence Force (CNDF) and Kalay People’s Defence Force.

All the residents of Tha Si, where there’s about 1,200 homes, fled to safety before the junta soldiers arrived in the village in Kalay Township .

At least three Burma army soldiers were killed in the clashes. CNDF soldier Min Khant Kyaw, also known as Thar Lay, was killed and two soldiers from CDF Battalion 2 and one from Battalion 3 were wounded by regime shelling after the groups withdrew from the area, an information officer from CDF told Khonumthung News.

About 80 regime soldiers have been stationed in Zin Kalin on the Kalay-Gangaw road since mid-June, and 20 soldiers from this department were responsible for torching the properties in Tha Si.
