The People’s Administration for Mindat Township has formed the Mindat Chin National Council, which will be the prominent political group for the township.
“It’s not a strong revolution without a political agenda. We have to think about how to build a federal democracy in the future—how to cooperate with the National Unity Government and then what discussions will happen,” explained Ko Yaw Mang, the People’s Administration spokesperson for the township.

As it’s not up to the defense department to make decisions for everyone, he said the administration members, participants of the Civil Disobedience Movement, foreign experts, and others supporting the resistance movement against the military regime in Burma have all come together to form the committee on 6 August.
“This political group is a collective. This Chin National Council will draw up political policies, implement federal democracy issues, etc.,” he told Khonumthung News. As the revolution against the military dictatorship grows, we need a leading political body, Yaw Mang said.
According to the statement from the People’s Administration for Mindat Township, they have systematically implemented administration, defense, judicial, security, and humanitarian relief issues in Mindat Township within two years of the revolution period, with strong support from people both inside and abroad.
