Dr. Lain Hmung Sakhong, vice-chairman of CNF said that the central government has given permission on 13 February to hold Chin national level political dialogue in Thantlang town.

“After the agreement made between Commander in Chief of Defense and State Counsellor, Peace Committee informed me about the permission. We are planning to hold Chin National level political dialogue from 23-25 February 2017, but not confirm yet. Because we will need preparation if the second time meeting of Union level Peace Conference 21st Pinlong will be held in the first week of March,” he added.

Although UPDJC has decided all NCA signatories of ethnic armed groups can conduct national level political dialogue in their respective states; it has been banned to conduct in Chin state and Arakan state due to political landscape and geographical situation.

Chin National Front (CNF), therefore, has been planning not to present at the upcoming 21st Pinlong conference, but after a week requisition made by Chin political parties and other community based groups, the permission has granted.

Dr. Lian Hmung Sakhong said, “Now we are ready to organize national level political dialogue as we got the permission from government, then we believe that we could conduct the meeting successfully,” to Khonumthung News.
