A coalition of resistance groups led by the Chin National Front/Chin National Army (CNF/CNA) has captured two regime soldiers and weapons during a recent attack on the Burma army headquarters in Thangtlang town in northern Chin State.
Three Chin fighters were killed in the early morning clash on 15 August. Several enemy fighters were also killed, but it’s unclear how many.
CNF/CNA spokesperson Salai Htet Ni said, “Our joint forces attacked the headquarters of Infantry Battalion 269 and seized a sentry camp. We retreated when their jet fighters flew overhead.”
The assault was supported by the Chinland Defence Force soldiers from Thangtlang and Zophei.
Following the attack, the Burma army conducted airstrikes on Khuafo, a civilian village only five miles from the clash site.
A church and four homes were damaged by bombs dropped by the jet fighter and shelling, which forced villagers to flee for safety.
At least nine people were killed during an airstrike on the village in late March.
On the evening of 13 August, the Burma Army shelled Loklung in Hakha Township with artillery, damaging at least three homes in the village.
