The Chin revolutionary forces have captured and taken control of the town of Kanpatlet town in southern Chin State, according to Chin Brotherhood (CB) and Kanpetlet Council.

The military council and police stationed in Kanpetlet town departed the area around 12:00 on 21 December, following negotiations led by local residents, according to the Kanpetlet Council and the Chinland Defense Force (CDF)-Kanpetlet Battalion.

The people of Kanpetlet have regained control of the town. On 22 December, the participation of the local population was evident, according to a statement from the Kanpetlet Council’s information team.

The Chin Brotherhood (CB) also said that the military council forces fled their camp while the CB and allied forces were preparing to launch an operation, referred to as “Operation CB,” to capture Kanpetlet town.

Ko Yaw Mann, spokesperson for the Chin Brotherhood (CB), stated: “We have been preparing to attack Kanpetlet for a long time. The junta soldiers fled the camp when we were planning to strike on the night of 21 December. Now, we are pursuing the fleeing soldiers. We have not yet issued an official statement, but one will be released soon.”

On the first anniversary of the operation to capture Kyindwe town in Kanpetlet Township, the Chin Brotherhood (CB) announced to the public that the Kanpetlet town-capture operation officially began on 22 December.

“In the morning, I heard the sounds of firing in Kanpetlet. A clash occurred with the Matupi Battalion near Saw Laung village,” a local from Kanpetlet reported.

Although locals and some sources have reported that the CB and allied forces captured the Light Infantry Battalion (LIB)-274, the last military camp in Mindat, and took control of the town, the CB has not yet issued an official statement.

The CB has been carrying out an operation to take over Falam, with fighting occurring between 9 November to 11 December.

On 22 December 2023, the CDF-Mindat launched an offensive to capture Kyindwe town. On 7 March, 2024, the operation was officially named “Operation CB.” Under the military leadership of the United League of Arakan/Arakha Army (ULA/AA), the town was captured on 29 April 2024.

The Chin Revolutionary Forces have taken control of several areas in Chin State, including Matupi Township, Tonzang, Cikha, Rikhawdar, Lailenpi, Kyindwe, M’kuiimnu, Hnaring, Rezua, Wai Bu La, and Surkhua. Meanwhile, the AA controls Paletwa Township in Chin State.
