Chin state college results record lowest pass percentage

Chin state has recorded the lowest pass percentage in collage examination results for the 2011-2012 academic session in Burma. The results were announced on 9 June.

According to a story published in the 7 Day Journal the results reveal that 1.6 lakh candidates were successful of a total of 4.6 lakh in 2011-2012 in Buma. Mon state scored the highest percentage of passes in the country, accounting for 52 percent, whereas only 14.91 percent passed in Chin state.

The Chin World website shows that 1093 candidates were successful of 7332 candidates in Chin state. There was one distinction in four subjects, one distinction in three subjects, nine distinctions in two subjects and 117 distinctions in one subject.

However, the pass percentage in Chin state is one percent higher than in the 2010-2011 academic session in Burma. Last year Chin state recorded only a pass percentage of 13.67.

The probable reason for the low pass percentage in Chin state may be due to the little interest students have in education and teachers not fulfilling their duties, said a Chin student in Pakuaku collage.

“Most students in Chin state want to leave for foreign countries when they fail in the tenth standard, and teachers take no effort to teach them properly,” he added.

Again parents do not pay full attention to their children’s education because they are struggling to earn a livelihood. Some parents force their children to leave school so that they can work and enhance the family income. Khonumthung news
