The Chin Human Rights Organization (CHRO) organized a consultation meeting with local NGOs of Mizoram state, northeast India on 24 September 2012.
Pu Terah, Field Director of CHRO told Khonumthung that the relationship between Mizo people and Burmese nationals, coming from Burma were discussed to promote fellow feeling.
“We especially discussed ways to promote good relations between Mizos and Burmese people here. And discussed means to support each other, to promote our work with Burmese social workers and Mizo social groups” said Terah.
“I attended the meeting, because I am not aware of the problems existing between Mizos and Burmese people,” said a participant.
The problem faced in Mizoram by Burmese people relate to religion, identity cards and problems in work places. These were discussed.
Members of Human Rights Law Network, Mizo Zirlai Pawl, Zo Indigenous Forum, Khonumthung News Group and Women’s League of Chinland totaling around 20 people attended the consultation meeting.
