    Civic education training for Chins by Myanmar Egress

    A training for Civic Education for Civil (CEC) was organized for local Chin people in Sagaing division, Burma by Myanmar Egress based in Rangoon, former capital of Burma between March 13 to 17.

    Fifteen trainees were sent for the training by Chin Progressive Party, United Solidarity Development Party, National League for Democracy (Kalay) and Ethnic Nationalities Party. Local social groups also sent some trainees. A total of 120 participants attended the training.

    “The training was conducted on our request to the Myanmar Egress authorities when we reached Rangoon to conduct training in our area. The training is for our people,” said Pu Van Kim, the Chairman of Kalemyo Chin Progressive Party.

    Team building, the 2008 constitution, critical thinking for leadership, state institutions and public policy, communication and advocacy, political economy of the state, civil society and civic engagement, leadership and negotiation, globalization, development and environment, developing effective social organization and civil society forum were some of the subjects on which lectures were delivered at the training.

    Phyu Phyu Thi, Naing Lynn Htun, Thura Zaw, Aung Ko Ko, Thin Za Oo and Thet Aung Lynn participated as training instructors from Myanmar Egress.

    “The training was aimed for those in rural areas of Chin state. Myanmar Egress gave certificates to trainees after the training was completed,” said a trainee.

    It is learnt that training will be conducted in Hakha, the capital of Chin state between March 19 to 23 by Myanmar Egress.

    The Myanmar Egress has conducted trainings related to political and social issues in Burma twice. The first training was conducted in Arakan state of Burma.

    Myanmar Egress was established in 2006 with the aim to promote civil society organizations in the country and to help youth by a group of Myanmar nationalists committed to state building through positive change in a progressive yet constructive collaboration and working relationship with the government and all interest groups, both local and foreign.
