At least 60 junta soldiers have reportedly perished and many were wounded during battles with resistance forces in the Timit Valley over the past month.
This is according to the Chin National Front, whose armed wing, the Chin National Army (CNA), is conducting ambushes with other armed groups in Chin State between Hakha and Thangtlang towns.
The CNF reported that since 30 July, the Burma Army (BA) has sent many troops to repair the bridge over the Timit River, which was destroyed twice by resistance forces.
The CNA, a special branch of the Chinland Joint Defence Force Committee and Thangtlaing, Zophei, Lautu, Mara and Hakha chapters of the Chinland Defence Force (CDF) have jointly carried out the attacks against the BA.
A soldier from the Hakha CDF was killed and at least five other Chin soldiers were wounded during the clashes that continue until today.
The regime has dispatched more troops from Falam in Chin State and Kalay in Sagaing Region and is conducting air strikes against Chin resistance fighters in the valley.
In Kalay, a 50-year-old Chin man was killed and a 28-year-old man wounded after BA soldiers indiscriminately fired their rifles into Indai Kon and Myo Hla wards at 4pm on 4 September.
According to locals, the attack in the town in Sagaing Region came after resistance groups ambushed them with landmines after junta soldiers inspected a junction separating Indai Kon and Myo Hla wards from Sekant and Letpan Hkon villages earlier in the afternoon.
The victim tried to take refuge in a church when he was shot dead on the spot.
The following day, soldiers also fired their rifles at 5pm in Tar Han ward in Kalay. Military checkpoints have been set up around the town and soldiers are checking everyone who passes by.
