    CNF to honour Pu Vomtu Maung on national day

    Pu Vomtu Maung, a former Chin affairs minister was honored by the Chin National Front (CNF) on the 66th Chin National Day celebrations which is being celebrated on a national level and is organized by CNF and the Chin state government in Mindat Town of Chin state, Myanmar.

    Pu Vomtu Maung, the first Chin party member and Chin Unity Party leader and the creation of the national day which is the historic first national conference was conducted in Falam Town of Chin state between 19 and 21 February 1948.

    “He was the first to resist the British, and he should deserve to honor for his bravery,” said a local from Mindat.

    The certificate of honour will be delivered by Salai Kipp Kho Lian, the President of Chin National Front on the 66th Chin National Day celebration in Mindat.

    The Chin National Day is being jointly organized by the CNF and Chin state government and U Win Thun, Environmental Conservation and Forestry Minister of Union of Myanmar, Pu Hung Ngai, Chief Minister of Chin state, Ministers of Chin state and Salai Kipp Kho Lian President of CNF, Pu Zing Cung, Secretary General of CNF and officials will participate.

    After the Myanmar government reached a ceasefire agreement with CNF last year Chin people are officially allowed to celebrate the Chin National Day in Hakha, the capital of Chin state.
