    Fighting Intensifies In Kalay Township

Resistance groups attacked the Burma Army (BA) in the southwest of Kalay Township, killing at least two regime soldiers, while a People’s Defence Force (PDF) soldier from Battalion 6 died and a Chinland Defence Force (CDF) fighter was wounded in the fighting near Sisan village.

CDF and PDF launched the attack on Monday morning, shortly after BA set fire to the former PDF Battalion 5 camp.

The day before, the civilian resistance groups discovered about 150 BA soldiers patrolling between the villages of Secant and Kyaukgu at the foot of Chin hill in Sagaing Region.

During the clashes on Monday, BA fired artillery from its base on Tawng Hpeler Mountain in the town of Kalay. By 5pm, regime soldiers had entered Sisan, where the shelling damaged at least two houses.

The fighting forced villagers from Sisan, Shar Taw, Lay Einsu, Thone Einsu and Secant villages to take shelter from the violence.

PDF warned residents to be careful if they have to travel as fighting could break out at any time.
