Five patients who have recovered from COVID-19 were discharged from a hospital in Kalay, Sagaing Region on Tuesday morning.

The five people include a 76-year-old, and four children, aged 10, eight, two, and six months.

Head of Kalay District’s information and public relations department Nyi Nyi Zaw said that the individuals would be required to complete a seven-day period of home quarantine following their release.

“Currently, 43 confirmed patients are still receiving medical treatment at the hospital in Kalay town,” Nyi Nyi Zaw told Khonumthung News.

A total of 12 people tested positive for COVID-19 in a quarantine facility in Kalay on November 7.

People who had contact with a villager from Kan Pale in Kalay Township were quarantined after the man traveled to Falam for work and then tested positive there for the coronavirus.

A meeting of the Kalay Township COVID-19 Control and Response Committee on Monday concluded that all truck drivers and their assistants will need to undergo a Rapid Test Kit for COVID-19 when entering Kalay town.

The committee has urged members of the public to be vigilant in looking for symptoms of the virus and to report potential cases to health officials.
