    Focus on Chin state development: Burmese Army commander

    The Regional Burmese Army commander said on his visit to Chin state that the government’s Defence Ministry would focus on development issues.

    Lieutenant General Myint Soe, Bureau of Special Operation of the Defence Ministry, Major General Soe Lyn, Commander of North Western command, army officials, Pu Hung Ngai, Chief Minister of Chin state government, Colonel Zaw Min Oo, Border and Security Ministry of Chin state arrived in an army aircraft in Matupi, second capital of Chin state on 8 November.

    Lieutenant General Myint Soe told officials in Bungtla hall of Matupi that road communication and agricultural issues are being implemented given the lack of production in the state, said a high school teacher from Matupi.

    Besides, Myint Soe told Matupi’s departmental officials that Chin people must work hard on a self help basis,” said a local.

    It is learnt that the people of Rizua sub-township, Lai Len Pi and Ting Si villages are being provided blankets, cooking oil, beer, army rum and some medicines. The goods are being received by Pu Lian Thang, an elder in Matupi.

    “Burmese Army’s specialist doctors have been treating local people,” said a local from Matupi.

    Lieutenant General Myint Soe visited Teddim, Ton Zang, Falam, Hakha and Matupi Towns of Chin state with army officials on November and the trip continued to Kanpetlet Town and Cindwe village, where a Chin Christian cross was destroyed by local Buddhists.

    Similarly, Lieutenant General Hla Min, Commander of Tactical Operation Command and Brigadier General KoKo Naing, Commander of Western command visited Paletwa Town, Southern Chin state on 4 November.
