The Sagaing Regional COVID-19 Control and Response Committee reported four new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Sagaing Region’s Tamu town this week.
“Three of the four new patients with Patient 1 in Tamu town,” Twi Swin Van, head of the Tamu District information and public health department, said. “The other new patient lost their sense of smell and came to test for COVID-19 in the hospital. The person tested positive. They didn’t have a history of travel. Currently, they are receiving medical treatment in the ICU ward in Tamu hospital.”
Among the four new cases are a 39-year-old woman from Myoma Ward 12, a 10-month-old baby, a 61-year-old man from Ward 13, and a 23-year-old man in Ward 5.
Thirteen people who had contact with these individuals are quarantined in Sawbwa Quarantine Center in Tamu town. The town has a total of nearly 50 people currently in quarantine.
The Sagaing regional government has reported that there have been 275 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region’s 25 townships, with 208 already recovered and discharged from the hospital.
Burma’s Ministry of Health and Sports has reported 41,008 cases of the coronavirus nationwide, with 21,444 recoveries, and 1,005 and deaths.
