Government warns people not to bug the authority

A signboard has been put up saying “Don’t flout the authority’s order,” in departmental offices in Hakha, the capital of Chin state, Burma by the local authorities on state ministerial office’s order.

“The signboard was put up in the Immigration office gate. I heard that the state ministerial office authorities ordered it to be pasted in its offices in the town,” said a local from Hakha.

Some people were critical of the new administration of the government where the new government in the state has been imposing on the people and not discussing any issue.

“Here it is very difficult to meet departmental officials. We submit our identity cards when we want to meet them. We are quizzed in detail,” said a local.

Local people told Khonumthung that the new government of Chin state did not have any work plan for the state till date.

“Ministerial officials and departmental officers neither work out nor plan publicly.  They seem to be free when local people want to meet them, but their security personnel say they are very busy,” said a source from a Chin party.

Some people were critical that elected representatives of the people behave like military representatives at the ministerial level in the state. And they practice what the military government did to their people.

“Most military representatives were appointed including those from the United Solidarity Development Party (USDP) in state ministerial posts, and they do as the military did earlier,” said a high school teacher from Hakha.

The ministerial body was formed with three representatives of the USDP, the 2010 Burmese general election winning party, three other ministers from the military, one from Chin National Party and one from Chin Progressive Party respectively by the central government. Khonumthung news
