    Indo-Myanmar trade road and Rih Lake to be renovated

    The remaining portion of No-2, Indo-Myanmar border road and Rih Lake, part of the border reconstruction will be renovated by authorities of India and Myanmar during this summer.

    The Aizawl Post reported that Mr. Gautam Mukhapadhaya, Ambassador of India had discussed with Lalthanghawla, Chief Minister of Mizoram in Kolkata about the road and Rih Lake reconstruction on 14 February 2014.

    The report added that the Land Customs Station which is located in Zokhawthar, Indo- Myanmar border, Rih Lake, No-2, Indo- Myanmar border road and Kaladan Multi Modal Transit Project renovation issues were also discussed in the meeting.

    The renovation will be started before the end of this year’s summer. The budgets have been fixed for the all the project, said a local from Zokhawthar, Mizoram state.

    The Land Customs Stations (LCS) opening ceremony was agreed on to be observed since 2009. It will be opened soon as jointly agreed by the Union Commerce Minister and Myanmar Commerce.

    Ten million rupees is being sanctioned for the construction of LCS by the Indian government and the station will be built on the Myanmar side of No-2, Indo- Myanmar border.

    Mr. Gautam Mukhopadhaya, Ambassador visited the LCS when he arrived in Mizoram.
