A regime airship bombed the Senthang Chinland Defence Force (CDF) central executive committee office in Hakha Township.
According to the resistance group, the Mi-35 first attacked Khuapi village in northern Chin State at around 6 pm on 8 May before attacking the office. In the process, Salai Siang Cung Hnin, CDF associate general secretary, and Salai Duh Lian Hmung, the company commander, were killed.
Later that evening, the helicopter attacked Phaipha and Surkhua villages.
“This is a cowardly and cruel action against the civilians of Chin State,” said a statement from CDF, promising to continue to work with its other chapters and the People’s Defence Forces to fight the military regime and establish a federal democracy.
The regime dropped more than 120 bombs in Chin State in March and April, killing 24 civilians and 2 Chin National Army (CNA) soldiers, according to the group’s political wing, the Chin National Front (CNA), which has also joined forces with the CDF to fight the sit-tat (Burma army) in the state.
“They rely mainly on their air force to attack us. This means that their ground forces are weakening, which is why they’re launching the airstrikes against the resistance groups,” explains CNA spokesperson Salai Htet Ni.
Fifty airstrikes in the last two months have totally damaged four churches and more than fifty houses after ninety-nine bombs landed near villages and twenty-two bombs landed inside them.
