The Burma Army (BA) shelled a house where people live and run a restaurant in Kalay town on Tuesday.

The house owner and her daughter were slightly injured and the first floor and roof damaged in the shelling, which occurred at 10:30 pm.

A man from Tar Han ward, who spoke with Khonumthung News on condition of anonymity, said that the owner sleeps on the first floor, where the KT Restaurant is located, and that the shell landed near her bed.

“They were lucky that god saved them and they weren’t killed by the shelling.”

A couple of hours earlier, gunfire could be heard in San Myo, Tar Han and Tawng Hpeler wards in Kalay.

No one can say for sure what the reasons are for the BA attacks, but resistance groups have been fighting intense battles with the regime in southern Kalay Township.

A month ago, a junta shell landed near a Methodist church in Tar Han ward in Kalay town.
