The military junta attacked government buildings and homes with airstrikes in Chin State’s Mindat town, resulting in civilian deaths, according to the Mindat Township People’s Administration Team.

On 7 May, around 1:30 p.m., the junta carried out an airstrike, dropping two bombs near Mindat, damaging homes and causing significant destruction, as evidenced by photographs released by the Mindat People’s Administration Team on the same day.

Similarly, at approximately 2:40 p.m. that day, a jet fighter conducted another bombing raid on the town, damaging government buildings and staff housing, and resulting in civilian deaths, according to local sources.

Some news outlets in Chin State reported that three men were killed in the junta’s airstrikes, though this could not be independently verified.

Atttempts were made to reach out to the Mindat People’s Administration Team officials for comment on civilian casualties and damage to buildings, but no response had been received by the afternoon of 8 May.

On 16 April, the junta also conducted airstrikes on Mindat, targeting the town with fighter jets. The attack damaged one government office building, two staff housing units, and four homes, according to reports.

The junta has frequently carried out airstrikes in southern Chin State, particularly in Mindat and Kanpetlet Townships. These attacks have caused damage to government buildings and civilian homes, as well as civilian casualties.

Mindat is currently under the control of the Chinland Defense Force (CDF), which is leading rebuilding and resettlement efforts while administering the area.
