Shells fired by the State Administration Council (SAC) killed a woman and injured three men in Kalay town during recent clashes with resistance forces.

The local People’s Defense Force started clashing with SAC troops supported by the Pyusawhtee People’s Militia Force in the southwest section of the town in Sagaing Region a few days earlier.

“Burma army soldiers in Kalay town targeted Myo Hla Ward with 120 mm mortar shells,” a local said, requesting anonymity. The shelling instantly killed the woman on 29 September, but it is still unknown how serious the injuries incurred by the men are.

The day before the Myo Hla incident, a bomb claimed the life of a 12-year-old in Munlai Ward in the afternoon, and two people were injured that night in Tatoothida Ward.

The source mentioned that a SAC artillery strike killed four people from the same family in Shar Hpo, in southern Kalay Township, on 27 September. After witnessing the carnage in the village, another woman reportedly died.

According to volunteers, over 1,000 people from Myo Hla, Inndai Kon, Mun Htar, and Secant have been forced to flee their homes to escape the fighting.
