The Burma Army requested Chin National Front (CNF) to return police officers suspected of seeking refuge in its area in northern Chin State after joining the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM). However, the CNF said the police fled to India.
CNF met the commander of Burma Army Northwest Command in Hakha this week to discuss the matter. During the meeting, CNF asked the junta’s Chin State Administration Council to release the people detained after the February 1 coup happened and to stop using violence against peaceful demonstrations.
Salai Htet Ni, CNF spokesperson, told Khonumthung News that a Tatmadaw column searched for the police at Victoria Camp, located in Thangtlang Township. He said they never stayed at the ethnic armed organization’s (EAO) headquarters. CNF warned Burma Army not come again after they said they will return.
The last time Tatmadaw soldiers set foot in Victoria Camp was after the EAO signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement.
