The regime injured children and adults with cluster bombs dropped on a village in Mindat Township by a jet fighter, according to the local People’s Administration.

The airstrike injured a 2-year-old girl, a 4-year-old boy, two women, and a man in Ouk Chai village in the Taik Nel 13 area on April 3.

Twelve houses were completely destroyed by the cluster bombs. A school, teacher’s residence, and other homes were also damaged.

Pieces of the bombs left over from the blast pose further dangers to residents as they can cause additional explosions in the village. The People’s Administration has issued a warning for local people to be cautious and not to touch them if they find remnants of the explosion near their homes, farms, or around the village.

A year ago, a jet fighter also dropped cluster bombs on Pang Pa village in Taik Nel 1, killing at least 3 civilians and injuring 6 others.

The Burma army hasn’t signed the Convention on Cluster Munitions, which was enacted in 2010 by more than 100 nations.
