An angry mob lynched a Burmese citizen who had slashed a 12-year old girl’s neck with a knife on 8 June at Zawngin village, Mizoram state. The man, Liankhansang, was a native of Tahan block in Kalaymyo, Myanmar and he arrived in Zawngin, Mizoram state for four weeks in order to work as a wood cutter.

The Aizawl Post newspaper said that before the incident happened, Liankhansang had lost his wages of Rs 2,000 on 8 June. He went to the village chairman’s house at 3 pm, but the village chairman was not at home. He was angry and he met a 12-year old girl, Lalrinsangi in front of his home. He suddenly slashed her neck with a knife.

When the locals learnt about the incident, they caught Liankhansang and the mob started beating him up. He died on the spot, though he was hospitalized at Saitual civil hospital.

The girl, Lalrinsangi is not in serious condition and she is being treated in her house, the newspaper said.
