The second phase of the union level peace talks between the Chin National Front (CNF) and the central government began at Myanmar Peace Center, No. 11, Shweli Road in Rangoon, former capital of Burma today from 10 am, local standard time.
U Aung Min, Vice Chairman of Union level peacemaking committee and Union Minister, U Soe Thein, U Win Htun and U Ohn Myint, Union Ministers, U Hung Ngai, Chief Minister of Chin State government, General Zaw Win, Deputy Minister of union’s border and security ministry, U Tun Tun Oo, Deputy Attorney General of Union Attorney General’s office, Colonel Kyaw Soe Win, General Staff officer of the office of commander in chief (Army), Colonel Zaw Min Oo, Border and Security Minister of Chin state, Colonel Kyaw Tan Naing, General Staff officer of north-western command, U Ngun Maung, Pyithu Hluttaw (Hakha), U Paul Lian Lun, Amyotha Hluttaw of Chin state participated in the peace talks from the central government side.
The CNF delegation comprised Pu Zing Cung, team leader and Secretary General of CNF, Pu Thomas Thangnou, second team leader and CNF’s supreme council member, Pu Pual Sitha, Secretary General-I, Dr. Sui Khar, Secretary General-II and spoke person of CNF, Salai Kipp Kho Lian, vice Chairman-II of CNF, Dr. Lian Hmung Sakhong, Pu H.C Ral Hnin, Pu Thang Yen, Pu Zo Tum Hmung, Pu Thang Ning Kee and Pu Bernard L. Chhangte, Supreme council members, Pu Thawng Za Lian, Chairman of CNF’s military affair, Colonel Solomon, Secretary of CNF’s military affair, Salai Thla Hei and Pu Hau Kang, Executive Committee member of CNF, Colonel Than Tun, Vice Chief of Staff of Army, Major Sang Lian Thang, Army Commander of No.1, Tactical command, Major Kha Pawng, No.2, Tactical Commander of CNA and Pu Ngai Ja Thang, Central Committee of CNF attended the peace talks.
U Tin Maung Tan, U Hla Maung Shwe, U Kyaw Soe Hlaing, Dr. Min Zaw Oo, Dr. Kyaw Zin Hlaing, U Tihan Myo Ngunt, U Aung Naing Oo, U Ne Myo Naing, Colonel Chit Ko Ko and U Tin Aung Moe from Myanmar Peace Center team also participated.
Kristine Gould (PACRIM Research Associates, USA) ၊ Mr. Yohei Sasakawa (Chairman, Nippon Foundation, Japan)၊ Mr. Yiji Mori (Nippon Foundation, Japan) ၊ Ms. Suzuka Yoshida (Nippon Foundation, Japan) Charles Petrie (Myanmar Peace Support Initiative –MPSI ), Mai Chin Chin (Shalom Foundation, Yangon) and Salai Bawi Lian Mang (Director, CHRO) are attending as observers from the CNF side in the peace talks.
Similarly, U Khun Htun Oo, Daw Tan Tan Nu, Daw Cho Cho Kyaw Ngein and a member of National Democratic Force also participated with a dozen members from foreign embassies in Rangoon.
The second phase of peace talks between the CNF and central government is to be concluded tomorrow. After that public consultation will be conducted by the CNF with Chin people in Rangoon and various other places in Chin state.
