People’s Defence Force Ambush Burma Army After Losing Kalay Camp

The People’s Defence Force for Kalay ambushed the military several times, killing some of the soldiers deployed to attack them in Sagaing Region.

On Thursday morning, the Burma Army (BA) shelled the PDF from Kalay Technological University following the first ambush in Nagar Pwet village.

Later, the PDF killed at least 15 soldiers sent as reinforcements from Kalay with landmines when they stopped near Chin Hsai while on foot to Nagar Pwet. In the afternoon, the BA burnt down houses and a chicken farm in Chin Hsai.

Last Tuesday, 16 November, BA raided the PDF’s mountain camp in western Kalay Township and killed two male resistance fighters from Battalion 3, Mai Chin Chin (a female medic) and arrested 12 others, including 9 female medics.

According to a PDF source, junta troops shelled the camp with artillery before sending in their soldiers in the morning. He suspects that the soldiers buried the remains of three of his comrades in the jungle.

“I think the Burma Army shot them after capturing the camp,” a PDF officer told Khonumthung News.

The BA took the female prisoners to Nagar Pwet village after the raid where the PDF attacked their soldiers a couple of days later.

Khonumthung News couldn’t independently confirm these details given by the PDF fighters.
